10:16 by FoxTwo Well I guess this will be the last blog entry for the year 2007. To all who may chance upon this blog entry....
HAPPY NEW YEAR 2008!
What's my New Year's Resolution? Same as always - "I resolve to have no resolutions" :)
Seriously, I never had one. I don't get why people need to make resolutions at the turn of the new year anyway. You can always make a resolution when the need arises, and not need to wait for the end of the old year to make one.
ps: "Happy Nude Ear" is how my friends and I greet each other during this period ... it's not sexual in nature, and by definition, most mens ears ARE nude ("most" because there ARE some men who wear earrings).... women's ears are seldom nude tho...

So much so, that stress like these can drive a man to kill himself. In fact, one did. Or 2, if you count the one "found unconscious" outside IBM Towers in Shenton Way on Tuesday, or was it Wednesday? But, I digress. The man I was talking about is the poor man who decided to end his life by jumping onto the MRT tracks at Yishun station right smack in the middle of morning rush hour. He must have had a lot of problems indeed, to do that. Well, he doesn't have them anymore, and he did give about 25,000 other people in Singapore a great excuse to be late for work!
"Hey boss, I'm late cos some guy killed himself on the MRT tracks and we're all stuck here in the train!"
Thank the stars for handphones.. or else you couldn't tell your boss you were late. Thank the stars for 3G too, cos now you can SHOW your boss via video call that you are not lying about why you're late. Give him a real-time blow-by-blow on the whole situation!
One friend of mine in particular, had no sympathy for him. Actually, 2. Yes, true, he did make 25,000 other people late for work. He did make the police close off Yishun MRT for more than half a day. He did make the workers and cleanup crew work overtime to get the blood and body-parts (yes, he wasn't in one piece after the whole incident) off the tracks and the platform.
Yes, he gave people extra work to do, made them late, had to take a cab to meet their clients etc, just because he thought he had a lot of problems and wanted to end his life on an MRT track. He truly led a life by the motto - It's Better To Give Than To Receive. Singaporean Style.
