16:15 by FoxTwo Good riddance!
As you may well know, I bought Half Life 2 like everyone else. I cursed at Valve's bright idea of implementing their useless "anti-piracy" protection via Steam platform, an internet-based authentication method. If you don't know what I'm talking about, read my previous post here
Well I finally deleted Half Life 2 and the accompanying useless Steam platform off my harddisk! Yeah, I completed the game (ie "I beat the game!"). Was toying around with the idea of whether to re-play the game again, but decided against it.
Yes, graphics are fabulous. Physics model via the Havok engine is incredible. Having Steam on my PC, unbearable. Hence, the decision to delete everything.
From now on, I swear I will never, ever buy another Valve game again.
In fact, next time any game manufacturer/publisher decides to go the same way, I'd boycott it too. No matter how good the game is, no matter how popular, I will not buy a game with such a cumbersome anti-piracy protection. What it actually is, is an anti-legitimate-customer device. Turns people like me, who buys original games all the time, off.
Take heed, game makers! You're pissing off your customers!
